Delhi : Satyendra Jain’s health deteriorated after ED custody increased, was taken to hospital

Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain suffered a major setback on Thursday when the court sent him to ED’s custody till June 13. Satyendra Jain’s health deteriorated as soon as he came out after the completion of the court proceedings. He has been immediately taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Satyendra Jain complained of nervousness as soon as he left the courtroom. He fell into a state of unconsciousness. After this he was immediately taken to the hospital. The doctor of the Department of Medicine has been shown, who has advised to get some tests done. Satyendra Jain’s lawyer Hrishikesh Kumar told that he has sleep apnea (sleep-related problem) since the corona was infected. He was not feeling well after leaving the court.

Will have to be in ED custody till June 13
Satyendra Jain was arrested on May 30 in a money laundering case. He is in ED custody since then. He was produced in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court before the end of custody on Thursday. Court allows Enforcement Directorate that Jain can be kept in custody for 4 more days. Special judge Geetanjali Goel extended Jain’s custody till June 13 on the ED’s application.

What were the arguments given in the court?
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED, said that earlier during the custody, the agency had raided several places in which incriminating material including cash, documents were recovered. He told the court that the agency is yet to interrogate Jain on the basis of certain documents. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Jain, opposed the ED’s application saying that Satyendra was already in the ED’s custody and there was no ground to pursue it.
