Demonstration outside Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Shahi Imam said – ‘These are the people of Owaisi’

People of Muslim community are protesting outside Jama Masjid in Delhi. This demonstration is being done against the statement of Nupur Sharma. People holding posters and banners in their hands are shouting slogans. Tight security arrangements have been made in view of the demonstration.
Regarding the demonstration, the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid said that no call for demonstration was given by the Masjid Committee. Yesterday when people were planning to protest we told them clearly that there is no call for protest from Jama Masjid (Committee). We don’t know who the protestors are. I think these are Owaisi’s people. We made it clear that if they want to protest, they can, but we will not support them.
Delhi Police says that people protested at Jama Masjid against the statements of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma and expelled BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal. We have removed people from there. The situation is now under control.

DCP Central Shweta Chauhan told that today about 1500 people had reached Jama Masjid for Friday prayers. After the prayer, around 300 people came out and started raising slogans against Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal. We brought the situation under control within 10-15 minutes. This protest was done on the road, that too without permission, so action will be taken against the protesters.
Nupur Sharma is accused of making objectionable remarks on Prophet Mohammad. Due to this, BJP took action against him, but the people of the Muslim community say that Nupur Sharma should be arrested. An FIR has also been registered against Nupur Sharma in Delhi.
After investigating the tweets before and after Nupur’s statement and the controversial statements that have come on social media, the police have registered two FIRs. After registering an FIR in the case of spreading hate messages, the IFSO unit of Delhi Police has submitted the report to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The police have registered an FIR against the people under different sections. The police will soon call the accused by giving notice for questioning.
Delhi Police says that all the accused were allegedly spreading hate messages, inciting different groups. It is known that in the past, the Bharatiya Janata Party had suspended party spokesperson Nupur Sharma after the uproar over controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad. Along with this, the head of Delhi Media Cell, Naveen Jindal was expelled.
