Singer Arjun Kanungo said after KK’s death, ‘I also performed there, could not breathe’

Bollywood’s famous singer KK said goodbye to the world on 31 May 2022. He was giving a performance on that day at Nazrul Manch in Kolkata. He started getting restless while singing on stage. From there he immediately reached the hotel. It is being told that KK had fallen unconscious after the live show. After the death of KK, many questions are being raised about the concert held on the Nazrul stage. Videos of KK also went viral when he complained that the AC was not working and he was wiping sweat again and again. Singer-composer Arjun Kanungo referred to the chaos in that auditorium in Kolkata.

Arjun told the story

Arjun told that he too once performed in that auditorium and he felt the same way. He couldn’t breathe. It was very hot there and AC was not working. Arjun told that that old auditorium is not maintained properly.

‘Should have stopped the show’

Talking to our colleague Hindustan Times, Arjun says, ‘I heard that the auditorium was very hot. I have also done shows in that auditorium before and I had the same experience… I couldn’t breathe. It was very hot there. It was so hot that the AC was not working. These old auditoriums are not maintained properly. There are many problems there. The auditorium should have been better. I don’t know if they (the management) were aware of this. If he knew that he was not feeling well and said something, he should have stopped the show. It does not matter. It is only a show.’

Incident with Asha Bhosle revealed

Arjun reveals an incident that happened to Asha Bhosle. He told, ‘We were in Auckland (in connection with the tour). I was standing right next to Asha ji as I was singing along with her. Once she came to me in the middle of the show and said, I am having pain in my chest. She was 77 years old at that time. I freaked out. I was a 19 year old kid, the situation with me was such that how to deal with it. I ran downstairs and called the manager. He stopped the show for 5 minutes. Being a professional, he finished his song. There were doctors there. He examined them and then sent them back. They (organizers) were ready for it.

Organizers should take steps

“When we do a shoot, every call sheet comes with the details of the nearby hospital and police station. Organizers need to find out where the nearest hospital is. If the organizers know that the artist is not feeling well then they need to take action.
