Neeraj Chopra broke his own national record, but missed out on the gold medal

Neeraj Chopra, who created history by winning the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics, has made a new record. He won the silver medal at the Pavo Nurmi Games in Finland on Tuesday with his best throw of 89.30m. However, he could not win the gold medal by breaking his own record. Finland’s Helander took the top spot with a time of 89.93m.

Earlier, Neeraj had set a national record in the Tokyo Olympics by throwing a throw of 87.58 meters. It was on the strength of this throw that he won the historic gold medal in Tokyo. Neeraj Chopra participated in a tournament for the first time after the Olympics.

In this tournament, he threw 89.30 in his second attempt, which became his best throw. He threw 86.92 meters in the first attempt, while his third, fourth and fifth attempts were declared invalid.

Let us tell you that Pavo Nurmi is a gold event in the World Athletics Continental Tour. It is one of the largest track-and-field competitions after the Diamond League. Chopra will take part in next Saturday’s Korten Games in Finland, where he currently resides.

Neeraj will participate in the ‘Stockholm Leg of the Diamond League’ on 30 June. He trained in the USA and Turkey before relocating to Finland last month. Neeraj Chopra has high hopes in the World Athletics Championships and Commonwealth Games to be held next year.
