Regarding the recruitment of armed forces, Defense Minister Rajnath said – ‘Any kind of defect will be a proper solution’

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that the government will conduct annual review of the Agnipath scheme for recruitment in the Armed Forces and if there are any shortcomings or challenges, it will be appropriately resolved. The plan has been finalized after two years of brainstorming with key stakeholders. He termed the plan as “transformative”.

On June 14, the government announced this scheme for recruitment in the army, in which youth in the age group of 17-and-a-half to 21 years would be recruited for four years. 25 percent of the youth recruited under this scheme will get a chance to work in the army for 15 more years. The upper age limit for recruitment has been increased from 21 years to 23 years for 2022. Violent demonstrations were held in many parts of the country against this scheme as there is no employment guarantee for 75 percent of the youth recruited under the scheme.

Defense Minister said in a program of a private TV channel
Rajnath Singh said in a program of Zee News, “Let the scheme be implemented. We will review it every year and if there are any shortcomings or challenges, we will try to remove them. This is the promise of our government.” He said that this will revolutionize the process of recruitment in the armed forces.

One who retires in 4 years should not be apprehensive
Referring to the termination of service of 75 percent of the youth recruited as ‘Agniveer’, Rajnath Singh said that the government has made some scheme for them. He said, “Whenever a plan comes, people have some apprehensions in their minds. I am not saying that there should be no apprehensions. But we are ready to discuss all these apprehensions and if any challenge arises. Then we will solve that.”
