Corona cases are increasing almost everywhere in the world, not only in India; 18 percent jump in new cases
Not only in India, cases of corona virus are increasing almost everywhere in the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) said this on Thursday. According to the WHO, there has been an 18 percent increase in the number of new cases of corona virus infection last week after more than 4.1 million cases were reported globally.
According to the report, there has been an increase in the cases of COVID-related deaths in three regions – West Asia, Southeast Asia and America. According to the report released late Wednesday, the biggest weekly increase in new cases of COVID-19 was seen in West Asia, where there was an increase of 47 percent.
Infections increased by about 14 percent in America
The WHO said infections increased by about 32 percent in Europe and Southeast Asia, and about 14 percent in the US. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that cases are increasing in 110 countries and most of the cases are of Omicron BA.4 and BA.5. “This pandemic is changing, but it is not over,” he said.
Urges to speed up vaccination
He called on countries to vaccinate their most vulnerable population groups, including health workers and people over the age of 60, saying that people are at risk of serious illness and death if they are not vaccinated. Tedros said that more than 1.2 billion COVID-19 vaccines have been administered globally and the average vaccination rate in poor countries is about 13 percent.
