Can travel by counter ticket

No seat, no reservation charge
Reservation charge is Rs 15 for booking tickets in General class of Railways, Rs 20 for booking berths in Sleeper class, Rs 40 in Third AC, Rs 50 in Second AC and Rs 60 in First AC. Now there will be no charge of Rs 15 due to closure of reservation in general class.
Reservation was mandatory during the Corona period
Indian Railways had also reserved general coaches to protect passengers from Kovid infection during the Corona period. From then onwards, passengers had to travel by booking tickets to travel in these coaches.
29 Rule came into force
According to railway sources, in the last days of February, the requirement of reservation in second class or general coaches was abolished, but at that time tickets were booked in second class in some long distance trains. Due to which the period of advance reservation period in these trains is 120 days. That’s why the railways had to wait for so many days. This period ended on 28 June 2022. Now general coaches in trains have been opened for general tickets. Meaning that now you can go to the train by taking a general ticket even before the train arrives.
