Instructions to the officials to be alert regarding dengue

With the arrival of monsoon, the threat of dengue has also started looming. Water logging at places due to rain is inviting diseases. This has created conditions for breeding of the Aedes mosquitoes responsible for dengue. In such a situation, Health Secretary Radhika Jha has instructed all the Chief Medical Officers to be alert and not to take any kind of laxity.

The Health Secretary informed that for the active participation of all the departments for proper prevention and control of dengue and chikungunya, the government has ordered to hold an inter-departmental coordination meeting under the chairmanship of the district magistrates. It is necessary that the departments should complete the activities done at their level for the prevention of dengue in time. So that dengue mosquito can be prevented from breeding.

He directed that for the prevention and control of dengue, cleanliness campaign should be conducted in all the districts and action should be taken by making a block wise micro plan. Make dengue test facility available in all districts. Availability of adequate beds and medicines with mosquito nets should be ensured by preparing separate dengue isolation wards in the hospitals. Nodal officers should be designated for dengue isolation ward and availability of platelets should be ensured in all blood banks.

He said that due to the accumulation of water in water tanks, coolers, cement cisterns, pots, fridge trays etc., dengue spreading mosquito can flourish. So do not allow water to accumulate around the house. To protect against mosquitoes, wear such clothes, which cover maximum part of the body. Use mosquito nets and put fine mesh on the windows or doors of the house. Seek medical advice if you have symptoms of dengue.

High risk of dengue outbreak this year

Dengue has a special cycle. In about three to four years, it becomes more lethal. If we look at the statistics of the last few years, there have been very few dengue cases. In such a situation, there is every possibility that dengue may once again show its effect according to its cycle. The Health Secretary said that a study of the data of the past years shows that dengue becomes more dangerous and deadly every third year. In such a situation, after 2019, now there is a need to be very careful this year.
