Sri Lankans furious over Subramanian Swamy’s advice to send Indian Army, Indian Embassy clarified

The people of Sri Lanka are furious at Subramanian Swamy’s demand to send Indian Army to handle the deteriorating situation in Sri Lanka and to help the Rajapaksa government. Not only this, the Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka has distanced itself from Swamy’s statement and said that it is not in accordance with the position of the Government of India. Earlier, a very close owner of the Rajapaksa family had said that Gotabaya and Mahinda Rajapaksa were elected with a resounding majority in the free elections. To put an end to these rumours, the Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka issued a statement and clarified on Swamy’s statement. The Indian Embassy clarified, ‘The High Commission completely rejects the reports based on speculation in the media and a section of social media that India is going to send its troops to Sri Lanka. These reports and such views are not in accordance with the position of the Government of India.

If Rajapaksa wants military help, then India should: Swami
The Indian Embassy said, “The Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs has categorically emphasized that India’s stand is with the people of Sri Lanka who want to materialize their aspirations for prosperity and progress through democratic means and values.” .’ Earlier, looking at the situation in Sri Lanka, Swamy had also said that if this happens, then no democratic country in the neighborhood will be safe. ‘If Rajapaksa wants India’s military help, we must certainly give it,’ Swami said.

Swamy also claimed that the present crisis in Sri Lanka has been created. India should ensure that this mob does not become refugees in India. On the advice of sending the Indian Army, the people of Sri Lanka started trolling on social media against Swami. At this the owner was furious. He said that it is a good thing that Indians are generally using decent language on Twitter but the Sri Lankan mob is very cruel, obscene and uncivilized. There has been a very close relationship between the Swami and the Rajapaksa family. Swami used to visit Sri Lanka often at the invitation of the Rajapaksa family.
