Will MVA be shattered? Congress changed its tone as soon as Draupadi Murmu got the support of Shiv Sena

A day after Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray decided to support NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu in the upcoming presidential election, Shiv Sena has faced criticism from its ally Congress in Maharashtra. Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat expressed serious concern over Shiv Sena’s stand of supporting Draupadi Murmu. Thorat in a tweet questioned the ideological defection of Shiv Sena. Let us inform that by giving their support to Murmu, Congress and NCP have raised questions on the unity of Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has announced his support to NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. With his announcement, there is satisfaction among the party’s MPs and leaders, but dissatisfaction has started rising in the other parties of the MVA alliance, NCP and Congress. Maharashtra Congress stalwart Balasaheb Thorat wrote in a tweet, ‘Presidential election is an ideological battle. This is an ongoing struggle to protect democracy and the Constitution. It is not a question of women versus men or tribals versus non-tribals.”

With Sinha, the defender of the Constitution
Thorat further said, “Those who are in favor of protecting the Constitution and democracy, they are supporting Yashwant Sinha. Why did Shiv Sena support Draupadi Murmu? They gave some reasons for this, but we are going to tell the real story of Shiv Sena leadership behind it.” Can’t say anything about the role.

He said, “Shiv Sena is a separate political party, so they can take their decisions independently. However, the role played by Shiv Sena in this ideological battle when the state government was overthrown by adopting a non-democratic route and the existence of Shiv Sena was destroyed. Challenged, he is incomprehensible. Army is part of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), but they did not discuss anything with us while taking the decision.”

NCP’s stand
Meanwhile, another ally in the MVA, the NCP has said that even though the Shiv Sena has decided to support the NDA candidate, they want their alliance to remain intact in the state. NCP state president Jayant Patil said that in every presidential election, Shiv Sena has chosen its own choice. This is not an endorsement of NDA. Murmu belongs to the tribal community. Hence, Shiv Sena should have extended its support.
