Uttar Pradesh : CM Yogi Adityanath strict on Namaz in Lulu Mall, ordered to deal strictly with miscreants

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has strongly objected to the controversy over some people offering prayers at Lulu Mall in Lucknow and criticized him for making “unnecessary remarks” in the matter. He called the move a “disruption demonstration” in the movement of people.

CM Adityanath said, “Lucknow administration should take this matter very seriously and miscreants trying to create such nuisance should be dealt strictly.” The mall was inaugurated by the Lulu Group based in MA’s Abu Dhabi.

Four of the eight Muslim people who were seen offering prayers at a mall in the state capital Lucknow on July 12 have been arrested by the police. Mall authorities had registered a case against them for hurting religious sentiments after videos of Namazis went viral and some Hindu organizations alleged violation of communal harmony by those using public places for religious activities.

Some right-wing organizations had sought permission to recite Hanuman Chalisa in the mall as a protest against offering Namaz in the mall, which was rejected.

Subsequently, three Hindu youths were arrested as they were trying to read Hanuman Chalisa in the mall on 15 July. Apart from these, another Muslim person was also arrested for trying to offer Namaz. The next day, a case was registered against more than 10 people. The mall management has put up a board, which states that no religious prayer/worship is allowed inside the mall.
