Uttar Pradesh : Bundelkhand Expressway now sank in Banda and Etawah, cracks came
Bundelkhand Expressway also sunk in Banda and Etawah on Friday, the sixth day of its inauguration. In Etawah, on the lane coming from Chitrakoot, between kilometer number 288 to 296, the roadside was washed away in the rain at six places. At the same time, in Banda, about 12 km from Mawai to Hammer, the expressway got submerged due to flowing soil at 10 places on both the lanes. There were also cracks at eight to 10 places on the road and bridge.
Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA) officials have started repairs by stopping traffic in these areas on the information of cracks on the expressway and road collapse. Bundelkhand Expressway starting from Chitrakoot is connected with Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Kudrail in Etawah. After heavy rain in Etawah on Thursday night, about eight kilometers of the expressway from Belahar to Kudrail has collapsed due to soil erosion at six places.
Working organization Dilip Buildcon Company has stopped traffic in this area. Employees are busy repairing the expressway. Due to timely information to the authorities, no accident could have taken place. Sujit Rai, in-charge of Dilip Building Kilometer number 280 to 296, told that the soil is being cut due to rain. It will be fixed.
AE Mahavir Singh of UPEDA said that wherever the road is sinking, it is being repaired by stopping the traffic. In Banda, the soil is submerged on both the lanes. Here the expressway has suffered a lot. The erosion is such that the soil beneath the road has become empty while a coating of concrete and asphalt is visible from above. This raised the possibility of an accident. Here cracks have come on the underbridge built in Chahitara, Mavai, Jari Athoda, Barghani, Kanwara. They are being repaired.
Geo Sail cell not imposed to stop harvesting
Geo Sail (black four-inch strip) is to be installed along the Bundekhand Expressway in Etawah to prevent soil erosion. This kilometer number from 280 to 296 has not been found in many places. After filling the soil in this cell, grass is planted, so that cutting can be stopped. This is the situation of Banda. Here also the Jio cell has not been installed from Mawai to Hammer.
Expressway was sunk in Jalaun on Thursday
The Bundelkhand Expressway had collapsed on Thursday near Chiria Salempur in Jalaun. There was a pit two feet wide, six feet long and one feet deep near kilometer number 195.
PM Modi inaugurated on 16
The 296 km expressway from Bharatkup in Chitrakoot to Kudrail in Etawah was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 16 at Catheri village in Jalaun. Only six days have passed since its launch.
