President Ramnath Kovind’s farewell speech, said – I bow to the country’s vibrant democratic system

Today is the last day of the tenure of outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind. He is addressing the nation on this occasion. Five years ago, you all had reposed immense faith in me and through your elected public representatives,” Kovind said.  I was elected as the President of India. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you countrymen and your public representatives.

He further said that Ram Nath Kovind, who grew up in a very ordinary family of Paraunkh village of Kanpur Dehat district, is addressing all of you countrymen today, for this I salute the power of the vibrant democratic system of our country.  Visiting my native village during the tenure of the President and touching the feet of the elderly teachers in my Kanpur school to seek their blessings will always be among the most memorable moments of my life.

He said that staying connected to our roots is the specialty of Indian culture.  I would request the younger generation to continue this tradition of being connected to their village or city and their schools and teachers.

The heroes of freedom are being remembered

During the 19th century, there were many revolts against independence all over the country.  The names of most of the heroes of such rebellions, who instilled new hope among the countrymen, were forgotten.  Now his heroic stories are being remembered with respect.  He said that from Tilak and Gokhale to Bhagat Singh and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, from Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel and Syama Prasad Mookerjee to Sarojini Naidu and Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay – many such personalities were ready for only one goal, of humanity.  has not been seen elsewhere in history.

He said that our country is being able to make the 21st century India’s century, it is my firm belief.  Our forefathers and the builders of our modern nation had realized the ideals of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity through their hard work and spirit of service.  We just have to follow in their footsteps and keep moving forward.

15 women including Hansaben Mehta, Durgabai Deshmukh, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur and Sucheta Kriplani were among the many dignitaries who represented the entire country in the Constituent Assembly.  The Constitution of India, created by the invaluable contribution of the members of the Constituent Assembly, has been our beacon.

I’ve been extremely conscious in tenure

He further said that during the five years of my tenure, I have discharged my responsibilities to the best of my ability.  I am Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. S.  Radhakrishnan and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam have been very conscious of being the successor of great personalities.  The crisis of climate change remains a serious threat to the future of our planet.  We have to protect our environment, our land, air and water for the sake of our children.  I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the countrymen.  While saluting Mother India, I wish you all the best for a bright future.
