It is being told that in the last few days, there has been a huge increase in the sale of flavored condoms in various areas of Durgapur like Durgapur City Center, Bidhannagar, Benachiti and Muchipara, C Zone, A Zone. Surprised by this sudden increase, a local shopkeeper asked a young man who was repeatedly buying condoms from his place. So he gave a surprising answer that he buys them for intoxication. A medical store operator in Durgapur told that earlier only 3 to 4 packets of condoms were sold daily, but now full packs are being sold.
Giving information about how these youths are using condoms for intoxication, Dhiman Mandal, who works in Mandal Hospital, Durgapur, said that condoms contain some aromatic compounds. They break down during the making of alcohol. They are addicts. They feel like intoxicants. He told that this aromatic compound is also found in dendrite gum. Many people also use dendrite for intoxication.
Noorul Haque, teacher of chemistry, Durgapur RE College Model School, said that by soaking condoms in hot water for a long time, large organic molecules break down into alcohol compounds, which leads to intoxication. This is not the first case of using strange things for drugs. In the middle of the 21st century, the sales of toothpaste and shoe ink in Nigeria suddenly increased by 6 times. People started using them for intoxication.
