There is a limit for targeting judges, Justice DY Chandrachud furious over media reports
During the hearing of a case in the Supreme Court, Justice DY Chandrachud, while making a strong comment on the media, said that there is a limit to the targeting of judges. He made this remark on a media report about non-hearing of cases by the judges. In fact, there was a demand on behalf of the lawyer in a case that the case filed against violence and attacks against Christians should be listed. On this, Justice Chandrachud said that I had read a news in this regard that this matter has not been taken up for hearing.
Further, Justice Chandrachud said, ‘Give the judges a break. I was suffering from Corona and hence the matter was adjourned. I read the news that the judge is not taking up the matter. We also have a limit to target. The matter was to be heard in the Supreme Court on July 15, but it could not happen due to non-availability of benches. The application was filed on behalf of Dr. Peter Macado, Bishop of Bangalore. He had alleged that incidents of violence against and attacks on Christian priests and their institutions have increased rapidly across the country.
In the application filed by him, the court was demanded to give some orders to the administration and state governments to stop the ongoing violence against Christians. The bishop said that an SIT should be formed to investigate the violent incidents against Christians and their members should be from outside the state in which the case is concerned. Not only this, he said that in many cases the SIT had filed closure reports, but counter FIRs were registered against the victims only.
Let us inform that in the past, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court had also made a sharp comment on the media and said that debates are being conducted with agenda these days. Raising questions especially on TV media and social media, he had said that wrong information or half-truth is also served here, which is going to take democracy two steps back.
