Air Force’s MiG-21 fighter plane crashes, Himachal’s pilot martyred
A MiG-21 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed during a training flight in Rajasthan’s Barmer at around 9 pm on Thursday. Both the pilots aboard the plane were killed in the accident. They have been identified as Wing Commander Mohit Rana (39) from Sandhol in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district and Flight Lieutenant Advitia Bal (26) from Jammu. Mohit was flying this plane. The accident took place in Bhimda village of Baitu police station area of Barmer. The wreckage of the plane was scattered over half a kilometer in the area. An inquiry has been ordered into the accident. Mohit’s father Om Prakash Rana has retired from the army as a colonel.
Martyr Mohit’s maternal uncle Gyan Chand told that the funeral will be held in Chandigarh with military honors at 11 am on Saturday. The entire family is currently living in Omaxe Kasia Apartment, New Chandigarh Mullanpur. Mohit had come to his village Sandhol 15 days back and returned to duty after spending his holidays and visiting tourist places. Mohit is survived by his three-year-old daughter Hriday, wife Nidhi and parents. DC Mandi Arindam Choudhary has confirmed this.
Mohit was always top in studies
Mama Gyan Chand told that Mohit was very promising. His education took place outside the state where his father was posted. Mohit’s education took place in Bangalore, Lucknow, Shillong. He completed his graduation in Shillong Army School and then passed out NDA in the year 2003. At present, he was working as a Wing Commander in a MiG-21 fighter aircraft. Martyr’s mother Prabhat Rana and wife are housewife.
Chief Minister expressed grief over the martyrdom of the pilots in the plane crash
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has condoled the martyrdom of both the pilots in the crash of a MiG-21 aircraft of the Indian Air Force at Bhimda in Barmer, Rajasthan. Pilot Mohit, a brave son of Mandi district, was also martyred in this accident. The Chief Minister said that all the people of the state are with the family of martyr Mohit in this hour of grief. The Chief Minister prayed to God for the peace of the departed souls and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.
