Maharashtra : ‘Compromise with ideology, biggest betrayal’, CM Shinde’s warning to Uddhav – If I say then there will be an earthquake
In a veiled warning to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Saturday that if he (Shinde) spoke, there would be an “earthquake”. Questioning Thackeray’s decision to join hands with the Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress, Shinde also said that he knew what happened to late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe. Referring to Dighe, he said, “I am a witness to what happened to ‘Dharamveer’.”
It is noteworthy that Shinde’s political mentor Dighe died in 2002 after a road accident. Thackeray had resigned as chief minister in June after most of the Shiv Sena MLAs, led by Shinde, revolted.
‘Who betrayed ideology’
“He rebelled to save the legacy of Balasaheb Thackeray,” the chief minister said at a rally in Malegaon. If I start giving interviews, there will be an earthquake…Unlike some people, I do not travel abroad every year for vacations.” Thackeray has supported him (Shinde).
He said that the rebel MLAs are being called traitors. He asked, “What would you say to those who have compromised with Balasaheb’s ideology just to become the chief minister.” Together they formed the government. Isn’t this a betrayal?”
The chief minister claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena faction led by him would win 200 of the 288 seats in the next assembly elections.
