Maharashtra: Raj Thackeray furious at Governor Koshyari, said – don’t make a fool of Marathi Manush

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray on Saturday hit out at Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s speech in which he had said that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are removed from Maharashtra, the state will be left with no money and Mumbai will not be called the financial capital of India. Sharing a post in Marathi, Raj Thackeray has given the caption, “Don’t fool marathi manush”. Raj Thackeray said, “If you don’t know anything about the history of Maharashtra, don’t talk about it.”

The MNS supremo said, “The post of governor is a very respected post, so people will not say anything against it, but your statement has hurt the people of Maharashtra.”

He further questioned Governor Koshyari and said, “Good job opportunities were created in the state because of Marathi people. That’s why people from other states came here, right? Will they get such an environment anywhere else?”

“Elections are near. In such a situation, no one should spread rumours. Don’t assume that we are innocent for believing this. Don’t fool ‘Marathi Manush’. That’s what I have to say now,” he said.

The Governor made this statement on Friday during an event organized to name a chowk in Andheri, Mumbai after the late Shantidevi Champalalji Kothari. In a video shared by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, BS Koshyari can be heard saying, “I tell people sometimes that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are removed from Maharashtra, especially from Mumbai and Thane, So you won’t have any money left.”

The Governor also praised the Marwari Gujarati community and said that wherever they go, they contribute to the development of the place by building hospitals, schools and other institutions.

Several leaders including Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi and Congress leader Sachin Sawant have condemned the Governor’s statement. Raut urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to condemn the statements made by the Governor. Congress’s Sachin Sawant said that the insult of Marathi people by the Governor of Maharashtra is terrible.
