‘Flash sale’ with bumper discount at liquor shops in Delhi, giving free up to two bottles with one

Liquor will be sold from government shops in Delhi from August 1. After this announcement of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, there has been panic among the shopkeepers running 468 private liquor shops in Delhi. Shopkeepers are worried whether their license deadline, which expires on July 31, will be extended or not? In the midst of this apprehension, huge discounts have been started to clear the stock of liquor from liquor shops in Delhi. Looks like a ‘flash cell’. According to sources, two bottles are being given free along with one at some shops. So that even if the license time is not extended, then at least the stock remains in the shops.

All the top officers including DC and AC kept silent
The shopkeepers allege that no response is being given to them by the Excise Department. For 4 days, they are not even allowed to enter the ITO office. From the commissioner of the excise department to the DC and AC, all the top officers are keeping silent. Shopkeepers say that if not today or tomorrow it will be clear whether they have been allowed to sell liquor in Delhi or not. Then why is this situation not being cleared now?

Permission to extend license for 10-15 days
However, sources say that there is a churning going on among the departmental officers about the fact that if the license of private shops is not increased, then from August 1, there may be a severe shortage of liquor in Delhi. In such a situation, permission can be given to extend the license for 10-15 days. But till the writing of the news, orders for this had not been issued. If liquor is to be sold under the old policy, then apart from the government, private shops will also open or the sale of liquor and beer will continue from the existing private shops. In this case also the picture is not clear.

The situation is not clear from the Excise Department
On the other hand, the sources of DSIIDC, DTTDC, DCCWS and DSCSC say that we too have not been cleared by the Excise Department till Saturday evening as to where and how many shops they have to open? When will these shops be opened? How to buy wine and beer to sell from stores? There are many things that we were not told. In such a situation, from August 1, how many liquor shops will we be able to open. We do not know this ourselves.

There may be a shortage of alcohol
Under the old policy, there were 260 private shops and 460 government shops for sale of liquor in Delhi. But in these government shops, only 372 shops could sell English liquor and beer, while country liquor was sold from the remaining 88 shops. Now the question is that after closing the new excise policy 2021-22, liquor will be sold from government shops only from August 1. But the picture has not been cleared by the Excise Department in this matter. In this way, if the license of the existing liquor shops is not extended, then from August 1, those who buy liquor in Delhi may face a huge shortage.
