Mehbooba Mufti also changed Twitter DP, posted a picture of PM Modi and his father with the invalid flag of Jammu and Kashmir

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti put up a display picture (DP) on her Twitter account on Wednesday. In this, his father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are seen sitting together. Along with this, the national flag and the now invalid Jammu and Kashmir flag is visible in front of them.

Prime Minister Modi had said in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program broadcast on Sunday that ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ has taken the form of a mass movement. He had requested people to put the tricolor on the DP of his social media account from August 2 to 15. Putting up a new DP, Mehbooba said that its flag may have been “snatched” from Jammu and Kashmir, but it cannot be erased from the collective consciousness of the people.

The picture on Mehbooba’s Twitter account is of a rally held in November 2015, which the Prime Minister addressed during his visit. At that time, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was the Chief Minister of the then state of Jammu and Kashmir.

What did Mehbooba Mufti say?

Mehbooba tweeted, “I changed my DP as the flag is a symbol of happiness and pride. The flag of our state was linked to the Indian flag, which cannot be changed. By ending this association, it was snatched away. You may have snatched our flag from us, but it cannot be removed from our collective consciousness.

Significantly, on August 5, 2019, special status was withdrawn from Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution. After which the flag of Jammu and Kashmir became invalid.
