Uttarakhand / Rudrapur : Angry traders burnt the effigy of the mayor due to waterlogging

Traders demonstrated in Awas Vikas Colony on Tuesday in protest against the waterlogging in the city and burnt the effigy of the mayor. Traders said that due to lack of proper sanitation in the city, the roads get submerged in the slightest rains.

Under the leadership of Sanjay Juneja, city president of Provincial Industries Trade Board, traders and townspeople burnt the effigy of Mayor Rampal Singh in front of Shiv Shakti Mandir located at Awas Vikas.

Sanjay Juneja said that the roads get submerged only in light rain due to lack of proper sanitation system by the Municipal Corporation over the years. Along with the main market, the traders as well as the public are facing a lot of problems due to waterlogging in all the residential colonies.

He said that due to accumulation of dirty water from the drains on the roads, the pedestrians have to go through difficulties. Alleged that the corporation is doing only frivolity in the name of cleanliness.
