Young Indian Limited’s office sealed, Congress said, will not back down from protest on inflation

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday temporarily sealed the Young Indian Office at the Congress-owned National Herald Office in Delhi. Official sources said that this action has been taken by the ED in connection with the investigation of money laundering case. He said the office has been temporarily sealed to “preserve the evidence”, which could not be collected during Tuesday’s raid due to absence of authorized representatives. Sources said that the rest of the National Herald’s office is open for use.

Officials said that the ED team had sent an e-mail to the principal officer/in-charge of the office to open the premises for raids, but the reply is still awaited. As part of the investigation of the case of laundering, on Tuesday, several places, including the office of the National Herald, were raided at the Herald House located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg near Delhi’s ITO.

The National Herald newspaper is published by Associated Journal Limited (AJL) and Young Indian holds a stake in this company. National Herald is registered in the name of AJL. It is to be noted that Young India Limited has acquired Associate Journals Limited which runs the National Herald. Meanwhile, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has tweeted, “Blocking the road to AICC Headquarters by Delhi Police is now a common practice rather than an exception.”
