Drugs worth 1400 crores recovered from pharmaceutical company, Palghar case of Maharashtra

Mumbai Police raided a pharmaceutical company at Nalasopara in Palghar district. During the raid, more than 700 kg of mephedrone (drugs) worth Rs 1400 crore were seized. Police have also arrested 5 people during the raid.

The raid was conducted by Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Crime Branch. SAIL said that this action has been taken on the basis of intelligence inputs. He had received information that a banned drug named Mephedrone was being manufactured in the company.

An ANC official said that four accused have been arrested in Mumbai. While one person was arrested from Nalasopara in Palghar. The Crime Branch claims that this is the biggest action taken against drugs in the last few days.

Mephedrone is also known as ‘meow meow’ or MD. It is a synthetic drug. It is a banned substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Let us tell you that similar action was taken by the DRI team on 20 September 2021 at Mundra port in Gujarat.  Drugs worth Rs 9000 crore were recovered from here.  Agency officials had seized 2,988.22 kg of heroin from there.

The connection of this consignment of drugs was from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.  Actually, the seized consignment was hidden inside the imported package of Ashi Trading Company of Vijayawada.  This company claims to import talc stones from Afghanistan and send them from Abbas Port in Iran to Mundra Port in Gujarat.

The Vijayawada-based company is accused of smuggling heroin in the name of ‘talcum powder’ imported from Hassan Hussain Ltd. in Kandahar.  Who was caught red handed.  This was said to be the largest consignment of drugs recovered by the DRI, worth Rs 9,000 crore.
