Maharashtra : When Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut complained about being kept in a room without a window, the court said….

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, arrested in the Patra Chawl scam case, complained in a Mumbai court on Thursday that the Enforcement Directorate has kept him in a room without any windows and ventilation system. The probe agency, on the other hand, denied the allegation of keeping the Shiv Sena leader in an inconvenient room and said that Raut was living in an air-conditioned form. The ED has arrested Raut in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of a chawl in suburban Goregaon.
During Thursday’s hearing, the court asked the Shiv Sena MP if he had any complaint with the ED, Raut said he was treated well but the room in which he is kept does not have a window. On this, the court sought clarification from the investigating agency. ED’s lawyer Hiten Venegaonkar said that since Raut is kept in an air-conditioned room, there is no window in it. To this, Raut replied that due to health reasons, he cannot use AC. The investigating agency told the court that they will shift Raut to a room that has adequate ventilation.
Significantly, Raut was presented in the court on Thursday by the ED after the remand was over. During the hearing, the ED demanded an extension of his remand, which the court accepted and extended the remand till August 8.
