Uttarakhand : UPCL bought electricity worth Rs 1026 crore in 4 months, Raghunath Singh Negi demanded CBI inquiry

Raghunath Singh Negi, president of Jan Sangharsh Morcha and former vice-president of GMVN, while talking to reporters said that the government did not do any homework in the power supply matter before the summer season to carry out the game of hefty commission in the power purchase case. Neither Gaya nor any review of the companies supplying electricity under the agreement was done and due to the deliberate short-sightedness and mismanagement of the government, electricity worth about Rs 1026 crores to the poor state is more expensive than India Energy Exchange, Power Exchange of India and NVVN New Delhi. Had to buy at prices from March 2022 to June 2022, which ruined the state’s treasury.
Negi said that it is a matter of great misfortune that the Government of Energy Department had to buy about 1200 million units from outside at exorbitant prices. The said electricity was purchased at the rate of about ₹ 8 to ₹ 12 per unit. The Morcha demands from the Raj Bhavan that there should be a CBI inquiry into the power purchase of Rs 1026 crores purchased by the government. In the press conference – Praveen Sharma Pinni and O.P. Rana was present.
