West Bengal : Opposition parties against Mamata Banerjee, calling the meeting with PM Modi ‘match-fixing’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to meet President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her four-day visit to Delhi. CM Banerjee arrived in Delhi on Thursday along with her nephew and Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Due to the Chief Minister’s visit to Delhi, the stir among the opposition parties has intensified. Congress and Left parties have termed the meeting of CM Mamta and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘match-fixing’. Opposition parties are linking this meeting of the CM with the PM with the recent action of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Let us inform that Mamta has sought time to meet PM Modi and President Draupadi Murmu today, for which she has reached Delhi. Apart from this, she will attend the meeting convened by the Ministry of Culture on the completion of 75 years of independence on 6 August and later she can also participate in the meeting of NITI Aayog on 7 August. At the same time, many parties, including the Congress, have targeted the TMC chief’s meeting with PM Modi and alleged that Mamata Banerjee’s Delhi visit ‘match’ between the action being taken by the CBI and ED against the top TMC leaders. part of fixing.

Bengal Congress spokesperson Ritju Ghoshal said, “This match-fixing has been going on since the 2016 Bengal assembly elections. Abhishek Banerjee was questioned only twice by the ED in the coal scam case. Whereas, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are being questioned and harassed everyday in the National Herald case without any basis.

At the same time, CPI(M) Bengal secretary Mohammad Salim alleged, “This meeting is part of match-fixing which has been going on for years. In this meeting, Mamata Banerjee wants to discuss the demands of the state with PM Modi. Why face-to-face meeting in this matter? Bureaucrats should also be involved in this meeting and before that secretary level meeting should also be organized. This meeting is part of the setting, public cannot be fooled.”

Rejecting the allegations, TMC’s state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said, “Attempts are being made to defame the Chief Minister. Former Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had met the Prime Ministers several times during his tenure. Did all these meetings? Did you mean match-fixing too?” Significantly, the opposition parties are raising questions on this meeting of CM Mamata Banerjee, which is being held a few days after the arrest of former minister Partha Chatterjee. Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the ED in the teacher recruitment scam case.
