Senior Taiwanese Defense Ministry official dies in hotel room, used to supervise missile production projects
The deputy head of the Research and Development Unit of Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense was found dead in a hotel room on Saturday morning. According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, he died of a heart attack. O Yang Lee-hing, deputy head of the military-owned National Chung-shan Institute of Science and Technology, has died in a hotel room in southern Taiwan. Officials said 57-year-old O Yang’s cause of death was a heart attack and that no signs of ‘infiltration’ were found.
According to CNA, his family said he had heart disease. O Yang went on a business trip to the country’s southernmost province of Pingtung. He assumed the position earlier this year to oversee missile production projects. The military body is working to more than double its annual missile production capacity to close to 500 this year. The island is currently facing threats and military threats from China.
Chinese missiles fell in Japanese territory
