‘Chief Minister, no reward, no help’, complaint of medal winning wrestler to Kejriwal

In the Commonwealth Games 2022, Indian wrestlers performed brilliantly and won 12 medals including 6 gold. During this, female wrestler Divya Kakran also managed to win the bronze medal. 23-year-old Divya Kakran defeated Tiger Lily Cocker Lemalier of Tonga in 30 seconds in the bronze medal match.

Divya Kakran lost to Nigeria’s Blessing Oboruddu on the basis of technical superiority (0-11) in the quarterfinals of the 68kg freestyle. Later, Blessing Oborududu made it to the final, due to which Divya got an opportunity to play repechage, in which she won two consecutive matches and grabbed the bronze medal. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also congratulated Divya Kakran.

Now Divya Kakran has expressed her pain while reacting to Arvind Kejriwal’s congratulations. Divya tweeted, ‘Sincere thanks to the Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi ji for congratulating the medal. I have a request to you that I have been living in Delhi for the last 20 years and practicing my sport wrestling here but till now I have not been given any reward money from the state government and no help has been given.

Divya further said, ‘I request you so much that the way you honor other players who play from any other state despite being from Delhi, I should also be honored in the same way.’

This is not the first time that Divya Kakran has complained to Arvind Kejriwal. In the year 2018, when Divya Kakran brought the bronze medal in the Asian Games, she publicly expressed her pain. Then he had said, ‘I gave gold medal to the country at the age of 19 and gave 12 medals to Delhi continuously. You said that I will get help in future but it did not happen.
