Uttar Pradesh : Swatantra Dev Singh resigns as leader of UP Legislative Council, Keshav Maurya was made

Swatantra Dev Singh, former president of BJP in Uttar Pradesh, has resigned as the leader of the Legislative Council. After the resignation of Swatantra Dev Singh, a new leader has also been elected in the Legislative Council. Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya will be the new leader in the Legislative Council.
If BJP sources are to be believed, Swatantra Dev Singh has resigned citing busyness. Since the resignation of Swatantra Dev Singh from the post of leader in the Legislative Council, there were speculations that now the party can hand over the responsibility of leader in the Upper House to Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Keshav Prasad Maurya has now been elected leader in the Legislative Council. It is being said that Swatantra Dev Singh has also resigned from the post of BJP UP president. In such a situation, his stature had become smaller than that of Keshav Prasad Maurya. This was the reason that Swatantra Dev Singh resigned from the post of leader in the Legislative Council.
BJP sources are saying that Swatantra Dev Singh has resigned due to busyness, but it is also being said that the real reason is that his stature is less than that of Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. On the basis of seniority, the post of Leader of Legislative Council has been given to Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Resigned from the post of UP state president
Swatantra Dev Singh had earlier also resigned from the post of UP state president of BJP in late July. His term ended on July 16. He was made the state president of BJP in 2019. BJP won 255 seats in the 2022 assembly elections under his president.
Significantly, Swatantra Dev Singh is the Minister of Jal Shakti in the Yogi Adityanath-led government. Swatantra Dev Singh, Jal Shakti Minister of the Yogi government, was entrusted with the responsibility of leader in the Legislative Council some time back. In the Legislative Council, he replaced former Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma.
