Jammu and Kashmir : Ghulam Nabi Azad turned down the post of Congress Campaign Committee Chief, the appointment was made only a few hours ago

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has turned down the post of campaign committee chief of Jammu and Kashmir Congress. On Tuesday itself, the Congress had announced to make Ghulam Nabi Azad the head of several committees including the Campaign Committee in Kashmir. Sources say that Ghulam Nabi is upset that his recommendations were completely ignored, so he resigned from both the campaign and the political committee.

Sources close to Ghulam Nabi Azad also told that he had already made his intention clear to the party leadership that he did not want any post. Even after this his name was announced. Vikar Rasool Wani, the new President of Jammu and Kashmir Congress, appointed on Tuesday itself, is considered very special of Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Congress reconstitutes the state unit

It is worth noting that in the midst of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress has reconstituted the state unit by sounding the bugle. The Congress had appointed former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad as the head of the campaign committee of Jammu and Kashmir. This decision of Congress President Sonia Gandhi was believed to be special in this respect.

The matter had increased so much that the Congress leadership did not even give a Rajya Sabha ticket to Ghulam Nabi Azad. The party had now made Ghulam Nabi Azad the chairman of the campaign committee as well as the head of the political affairs committee and coordination committee. However, now after the rejection of this post by Ghulam Nabi Azad, the market of discussions is bound to heat up.

Other appointments made by Congress

However, if we talk about the new appointments of Jammu and Kashmir Congress, Raman Bhalla has been made the working state president as a Hindu face. In the new committee, the upper hand of Jammu region is seen to be heavy. Azad, Wani and Bhalla all three come from the Jammu region. Senior leader from Kashmir region Tariq Hamid Karra was given the command of Political Affairs Committee. While former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz has been made the head of the manifesto committee.

Hope for early elections in the state

In the last assembly elections held in 2014, 12 Congress MLAs had won. Earlier, between 2008 and 2014, the Congress was involved in a coalition government led by the National Conference. So far it is not clear whether the Congress will join any alliance in the upcoming elections. Let us tell you that in 2019, with the abolition of Article 370, the Modi government divided Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh into two union territories. However, the assembly was retained in Jammu and Kashmir. Recently the delimitation of the assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir has been completed. It is expected that elections can be held soon in the state.
