Uttarakhand : Lumpy disease attack on Dehradun cattle, more than two dozen milch have become infected

After the death of many cattle and hundreds of cattle getting infected in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, now in the capital Doon too, the disease has attacked cattle. Dozens of cattle infected with lumpi disease are being treated under the leadership of veterinary officers. At present, it is a matter of comfort for the veterinary officers and livestock owners that till now no death of any cattle has been reported due to lumpy disease. On the other hand, Chief Medical Officer Dr Vidyasagar Kapri says that if any cattle show signs of lumpy disease, then immediately provide information about it. So that by treating the cattle infected with the disease in time, their lives can be saved.

Let us inform that after the outbreak of Lumpi, a deadly infectious disease on cattle in many states of the country including Gujarat, the disease had attacked in Haridwar in Uttarakhand in the past. To prevent lumpy disease, all the precautionary steps were taken by the Veterinary Department on the instructions of the government and the government. But, despite this, the spread of the disease could not be stopped. Apart from Haridwar, the lumpy disease has spread to Dehradun. The disease has attacked the milch animals cows and buffaloes of many dairy operators of the capital Doon. According to the livestock owners, the condition of many cows and buffaloes remains critical.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vidyasagar Kampri said that at present 15 cattle have been confirmed to be infected with the disease in the entire district. Along with vaccinating all the cattle, medicines are being given. So far, not a single death has been reported from the cattle. At the same time, teams of medical officers are also giving information to the livestock owners about what steps can be taken to save the cattle infected with lumpi disease.

55 animals have died due to lumpi in Haridwar, two thousand infected
The death toll of animals infected with lumpi infection has reached 55. So far, about two thousand animals have come under the grip of infection. On the other hand, the Animal Husbandry Department has appealed to the livestock owners to insure them to compensate for the death of animals.

After western Uttar Pradesh, including various states of the country, the lumpy infection spread in animals is increasing in Haridwar district. New cases of infection are coming out every day. Due to this, the process of death of animals due to infection is also continuing. Although the Animal Husbandry Department is claiming to control the disease, but due to the continuous influx of animals in the grip of the disease, there is an atmosphere of fear among the livestock owners. According to the data received by the Veterinary Department, till Wednesday, 55 animals have died due to infection in the district. The number of infected animals in the district has also reached about two thousand.

Vaccination campaign is being conducted continuously by the Veterinary Department. So far, 4300 animals have been vaccinated for prevention in the affected areas. Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Yogesh Sharma informed that vaccination is going on in the affected areas. He has called upon the animal owners to get the animals insured by visiting the concerned animal service center or animal hospital. Due to this, if an animal dies, then they will get relief from getting compensation money in the form of claim.

What are the symptoms of lumpy disease spreading in cattle

  • Cattle infected with lumpi disease have high fever.
  • The weight of the cattle starts falling rapidly.
  • Continuous saliva comes out of the mouth of infected cattle.
  • Water starts flowing from the eyes and nose of the cattle.
  • Cows and buffaloes infected with the disease start giving less milk.
  • When the condition becomes very bad, the cattle start walking with lameness.
  • Many times the disease-infected cows and buffaloes get aborted.
  • Infertility is reported in milch animals infected with lumpi disease.

How to prevent lumpy disease

  • Immediately tie the infected cattle separately from other cattle.
  • Get the animals infected with the disease treated immediately.
  • Along with giving antibiotics, give anti-inflammatory medicines.
  • Pay attention to the diet of cattle infected with the disease.
  • Because lumpy disease is spread by mosquitoes, flies and wasps. Therefore, take full care of cleanliness around the cattle. Also
  • burn neem leaves so that cattle can be saved from mosquitoes, flies.
