Pappan Singh, a mushroom farmer in Tigipur village of Bakhtawarpur, Delhi, gained a lot of fame for his generosity two years ago. His story was also shared by Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit. Later, Pappan had also arranged to call his laborers to Delhi by plane itself.
68 thousand spent on 10 laborers
Pappan used to have 10 laborers working, all of them he sent home after buying a plane ticket with his own money after the work was stopped in the Corona lockdown. In this, he had spent 68 thousand rupees. Some migrant laborers had even said that the owner got the ticket, today I will sit in the plane. These laborers were traveling by plane for the first time. The generosity of the mushroom farmer of Delhi was praised all over the country. Some of these laborers were working with him for almost 20 years.
During the Corona period, when the laborers expressed their desire to go to their homes, Pappan first tried to get a train ticket, but without success. Then he bought a plane ticket and sent the laborers to Patna. Even Pappan’s brother Niranjan Gehlot had come to the airport to board the workers.
Devotee of Mahadev, I will not deduct a single rupee
Then Pappan told the media that if my laborers have come so far from home, then it is also my responsibility to maintain their family. He had said- I swear to Mahadev, I will not deduct a single rupee of the ticket from these laborers. Actually, then there was such a rumor that maybe he should deduct money from the salary of the workers.
According to a report, Pappan Singh, a farmer of Tigipur, used to do organic farming and grow mushrooms. About 1 lakh tonnes of mushrooms were grown every year. He said that if the government pays little attention to mushroom cultivation, a large number of people can be given employment.
