Why is Shaheen Afridi with the team despite being out of the Asia Cup? PCB spokesperson told the reason

Before the start of Asia Cup 2022, the Pakistan cricket team had suffered a major setback. Team’s star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi was ruled out of this tournament due to injury. Afridi suffered an injury during the tour of Sri Lanka, due to which he has been asked to rest for four to six weeks. Despite being out of this multinational tournament, Shaheen is traveling with the team and staying with the team. In such a situation, now the statement of a spokesperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board has come out in which he has given the reason why Shaheen is with the team despite being out of the tournament.

A PCB spokesperson told local media in Pakistan that Babar wanted him to be with the team. Management wants to closely monitor his injury rehab. He will remain in Dubai with the team.

Let us tell you, while fielding in the first Test against Sri Lanka, Shaheen had dived in an attempt to save the boundary and during that time he injured his knee. Since this injury, he has been continuously running out of the Pakistan team.

Due to this injury, Shaheen Afridi will not be able to participate in the Asia Cup 2022 as well as the home T20 series against England. After the Asia Cup, Pakistan has to play a 7-match T20 series against England at home.

It is expected that Shaheen Afridi will return to the tri-series before the T20 World Cup 2022. If Afridi is unable to make a comeback in this series as well, then Pakistan’s preparations for the T20 World will face a major setback.

Talking about the Asia Cup, Pakistan will start its campaign against India on August 28. After this Babar Azam’s team will take on Hong Kong on 2 September. Top 2 team from the group will qualify for Super 4.
