Flood wreaking havoc in Pakistan, Emergency came into force, PM Sharif canceled his visit to London

Amidst the terrible floods in Pakistan, the government of Shahbaz Sharif has declared a ‘national emergency’ in the country. Also, the government has asked for donations to help in the rehabilitation of the flood-affected people. In a statement issued on Thursday, Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has termed the flood situation in the country as a national emergency.
More than 900 people lost their lives due to floods
The rains and floods have so far claimed 937 lives, including 343 children, and at least 30 million people have not found shelter, according to data released by Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Meanwhile, Sindh recorded the highest number of deaths where 306 people have lost their lives due to flood and rain-related incidents since June 14. While Balochistan recorded 234 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab recorded 185 and 165 deaths respectively.
Let us tell you that due to abnormal rains in Pakistan, there is a sudden flood situation in the whole country. Particularly in the southern part of Pakistan, which is currently declaring 23 districts of Sindh as “disaster affected”.
PM Shahbaz Sharif canceled his visit to London
The Prime Minister has canceled his private visit to the UK. According to the Sama TV report, he was on his way to London from Qatar to get treatment for his granddaughter, who is undergoing treatment there. Shahbaz Sharif, who is in Qatar on a two-day official visit, is on his way back to the country in view of the flood situation in the country. After returning to the country, Sharif will chair a meeting where all concerned officials, including the National Disaster Management Authority, will brief him about the steps taken for the rescue and relief of the flood-affected.
