Shock to ration card holders, UP government closed free ration scheme; Now you have to pay so much money

If you are taking advantage of the government’s ‘Free Ration Scheme’ on ration card and live in Uttar Pradesh, then this news is of great help to you. In the year 2020, during the COVID epidemic, the Yogi government of UP started the free ration scheme for ration card holders. Now it has been decided by the government to close it. All the District Supply Officers of the states have issued a press release for this.
Center’s plan will continue till September
However, the free ration available under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana will continue till September. In the last few days, it was claimed in some media reports that the central government will continue this scheme till the coming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. However, no official statement has come out on this claim yet.
Rice will be available at Rs 3 per kg
After the closure of the free ration scheme by the Yogi government in UP, card holders will have to pay Rs 2 per kg for wheat and Rs 3 per kg for rice. This change has been implemented from the distribution of ration for the month of July. Ration distribution in UP is going on late by two months. In such a situation, instead of taking ration from September, payment will have to be made.
Delivery will be between 25 to 31 August
Salt, whole gram and refined soybean oil will be distributed free of cost along with the ration for the month of June. It hasn’t been delivered yet. Under the change, the distribution of ration will be done between August 25 and August 31. Let us tell you that this scheme was started by the UP government for the ration card holders coming under the National Food Security Act.
The scheme was extended for three months
Apart from the central government, the Yogi government started giving free ration to the poor during the Kovid epidemic. Earlier the government extended it till March 2022. On Sattar’s return in March, this plan was again extended for three months. Under the scheme, free ration is to be received by June. Why is the scheme running late by two months in UP?
15 crore people will be affected
At present, the number of ration card holders in UP is 3.59 crore. In this, there are 3.18 crore household ration card holders and 40.92 lakh Antyodaya card holders. The total dependents on both types of ration cards are 14.94 crores. The closure of this scheme by the government will affect 15 crore people.
Till now, 3 kg rice and 2 kg wheat are given to eligible household card holders. At the same time, 14 kg wheat and 21 kg rice are given to Antyodaya card holders. The government was giving this ration free of cost till now from Kovid. But now you have to pay Rs 2 per kg for wheat and Rs 3 per kg for rice.
