Noida’s twin towers collapsed in 9 seconds, a multi-storey building became debris in the blink of an eye

The twin towers of Supertech located in Noida were demolished on Sunday. Within seconds after the explosion, the huge building collapsed like a pack of cards. The action comes a year after the Supreme Court ordered the demolition of these illegally constructed twin towers. The tower, about 100 meters high, was demolished in a few seconds.

These towers, higher than Delhi’s iconic Qutub Minar (73 meters), were brought down with the help of ‘Waterfall Implosion’ technique. The Twin Towers were the tallest structures ever demolished in India. The ‘Apex’ (32 floors) and ‘Cyan’ (29 floors) towers were under construction since 2009 within the Supertech Emerald Court housing society in Sector 93A, Noida, adjacent to the national capital Delhi. More than 3,700 kg of explosives were used to demolish the building.

Building collapsed in 9 seconds

About eight hundred crore rupees were spent to build the skyscrapers and now it also cost about Rs 17.55 crore to demolish it, which will have to be borne by Surptech. The height of the Supertech building is more than the historical building Qutub Minar. It took many years to build it and now it took only a moment to demolish it. British engineers helping the engineers have said that when the building is demolished, the dust emanating from it will spread for about three hundred meters. At the same time, the vibrations generated by the collapse of the building can be felt in the surrounding areas.

Both towers higher than Qutub Minar were grounded in just 9 to 12 seconds. This is the first case of such a huge building being demolished. To drop it with gunpowder, about 9640 holes were made in both the towers. 3700 kg of explosives have been filled in these holes. In this, both the towers were demolished by blasting through the remote at exactly 2.30 pm. For this an ‘Incident Command Center’ has been set up on the Jaypee flyover.
