Delhi / Pahadganj : Robbers who robbed jewelery worth crores caught for tea worth Rs 10, 3 arrested

The police has disclosed the case of looting of jewelery worth 6 crores in Paharganj area. Police have arrested three accused involved in the robbery. Tea worth Rs 10 became helpful for the police in catching the accused. Which a robber had drank a few days ago during Reiki at a shop in Paharganj. Also, to pay for tea, he had taken cash from a cab driver after paying Rs 100 in Paytm. With this clue, the police managed to nab the accused. The maternal uncle of one of the arrested accused had made an informer about the employees of the parcel company carrying jewelery worth crores. A total of five youths were involved in the incident. Police are on the lookout for two others who are absconding. All five are first timers. No FIR has been registered against them before this. They were in dire need of money. Due to which the five had carried out the conspiracy with the aim of earning a lot of money in an easy way.

The accused wore police uniform

According to DCP Shweta Chauhan, the names of the arrested accused are Nagesh Kumar, Shivam and Manish Kumar. All three are residents of Najafgarh. Among them, Nagesh was wearing a police uniform during the incident. He has asked to buy uniforms from Kingsway Camp. Police claim that after the incident, the police analyzed more than 700 CCTV footage. After that they got clues about the accused. On their behest, 6270 grams of gold ornaments, three kilograms of silver ornaments, 500 grams of gold and 106 diamond ornaments were recovered. In the early hours of August 31, the Paharganj police had received information about the robbery from two courier employees. The police had found Somveer and another on the spot. Investigation revealed that he works as parcel delivery boy in Chandigarh based parcel company Jai Mata Di Logistics.

Courier workers stopped for checking bags

The company’s office is also located in Daribapan street. At 4.15 am, Samveer along with his colleague Jagdeep Saini was going towards DBG Road with a parcel from the office. Then one wearing police uniform stopped both of them on the pretext of checking and started checking the bags. At the same time, two youths threatened to hand over the bag by putting chilli powder in their eyes.

The accused had fled after robbing the bag

It was a completely blind case. The police team started investigating over 700 CCTV footage installed around the incident site. After examining the footage of seven days, the activities of some youths appeared suspicious. Investigation revealed that even five days before the incident, they had come to the place to do Reiki.

Cash was taken from the cab driver

They found pictures of one of the accused talking with a cab driver. Find out about the first driver. He was interrogated, then it turned out that the accused had taken Rs 100 in cash from him for drinking tea. In return, the young man had returned the money to him through Paytm. One of the accused was identified from the details of Paytm.

On reaching his home in Najafgarh, he was found missing from the house. Slowly everyone was recognized. In the investigation, information was received about everyone having fled to Rajasthan. The police team nabbed the three from Jaipur and recovered all the looted jewellery. Nagesh Kumar, Delhi is a graduate from Delhi University. He carried out the crime with friends and uncle, he is the mastermind of the robbery case.
