Mamta Banerjee will throw water on Nitish Kumar’s dreams of becoming PM! TMC on the path of ‘Ekla Chalo’ in 2024
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had reached the party headquarters in Patna yesterday to address the state and national executive meeting of the Janata Dal United (JDU). Here his supporters raised slogans of ‘Desh ka prime minister kaise ho, Nitish Kumar jaisa ho’. Not only this, his party has put up big hoardings in his office and on the streets of Patna, through which efforts are being made to take his national ambition to the people. It is written on these banners – will be seen in Bihar, will be seen in India.
However, on almost every occasion after breaking the alliance with BJP, journalists have asked him questions about the PM candidate and he has dismissed such possibilities. Nitish himself may not be expressing this, but his party will take such a step without his consent, it is unlikely.
Addressing the party meetings on Saturday, Nitish Kumar said that if the opposition parties fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections together, the BJP will not be able to cross even the 50-seat mark. He also said that he is engaged in the same campaign. Nitish Kumar also talked about talking to leaders of various political parties. Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress is oblivious to this appeal of Nitish Kumar. The TMC says that it will fight the 2024 elections alone and oust the BJP from power.
TMC leaders have said that their party will go it alone in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and may consider a post-poll alliance depending on the number of seats the opposition parties have won. While Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekhar Rao recently discussed ways to build unity among regional parties for a ‘BJP-free India’. The Trinamool Congress claims that they have not received any such proposal. TMC national spokesperson Sukhendu Shekhar Ray said that the Trinamool Congress has not received any proposal of opposition unity from any side.
Talking to The Economic Times, the TMC leader said, “Mamata Banerjee had been urging the opposition leaders since 2019 to take united steps against the anti-people policies of the central government, but nothing concrete came out. This is the reason why TMC has decided to go it alone for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Yes, we can consider an alliance after the election. It depends on the number of seats to be won by the opposition parties.”
However, the TMC is quite vocal against the BJP over the raids and actions of central agencies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday alleged that action against corrupt people in the country has resulted in a new polarization in national politics. Some political groups are openly trying to organize to protect those facing corruption charges. TMC MP Ray has reacted sharply to this. He said, “All central agencies have been directed to fulfill BJP’s agenda of ‘Vipaksh Mukt-Bharat’ against opposition ruled states. What is BJP’s stand on Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh where not only job seekers Thousands of crores of rupees were collected from the government, but it has also resulted in the mysterious death of around 100 people.
Let us tell you that the National Executive of JDU has authorized the Chief Minister to unite the opposition parties. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that BJP is spoiling the atmosphere of the country. The people of BJP will do the work of disturbing the communal and social harmony in the state, we all have to take full care till the Panchayat level. In the meeting, the party functionaries told the Chief Minister that he was the most eligible candidate for the Prime Minister. The country is waiting for you. On this the Chief Minister said that the post is not important for me. Nor do I have any such desire. I am engaged in uniting opposition parties across the country. This is what is most important. The selection of the leader will be done by all the parties together.
Nitish Kumar called upon the party office bearers to get ready for the 2024 elections. He said that due to the conspiracy of BJP in the assembly elections 2020, our seats were reduced. I myself did not want to become the Chief Minister, but agreed on the request of the BJP. The reason for this was that the development of Bihar has been my priority from the very beginning.
