Truth and Reality

5 new districts may be announced soon in Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, once again the politics has intensified regarding the formation of new districts. After the statement of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the way for the formation of new districts is also being cleared. It is believed that 6 to 7 new districts can be formed in the state. The government has indicated that the formation of new districts will be discussed with the people of the state.

After the formation of the state, there are 13 districts in the state

Let us tell you, the state of Uttarakhand was formed on 9 November 2000. At that time 13 districts came into existence in the state. Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Haridwar, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Almora, Bageshwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar. Even today, the situation of the same 13 districts is there in the state. After the formation of the state, the demand for the district intensified.

In 2011, 4 new districts were announced

In 2011, on the occasion of Independence Day, the then Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had announced the creation of 4 new districts in the state. New districts were to be formed from Yamunotri from Uttarkashi, Kotdwar from Pauri, Didihat from Pithoragarh, Ranikhet from Almora. The GO for the formation of new districts was issued in December 2011. But after the assembly elections, the districts could not come into existence and the BJP government also did not come to power again. After the Congress government came, the matter of formation of new districts went in cold storage.

These can become new districts

In 2017, the BJP government was once again formed. But during that time no progress was made in the new districts. The report of the Reorganization Commission for the formation of new districts definitely came to the fore, but nothing could be done on it. The way the government has indicated, 6 to 7 new districts can be created. Now the name of those districts can be different. In it Yamunotri, Kotdwar, Ranikhet, Didihat, Kashipur, Ramnagar, Roorkee new districts can be created.

At present, the formation of new districts may take time. The report of the Reorganization Commission will be studied. Also, suggestions will be taken from the common people and in such a situation new districts can be formed. If we look from the economic point of view, about three to four hundred crore rupees are needed for the formation of 1 district. In such a situation, forming four to five districts together for an economically weak state like Uttarakhand is not less than a big challenge. The way the matter of formation of new districts is coming to the fore, it has to be seen how long the government announces the formation of new districts.

BJP leaders told good initiative

BJP State General Secretary Aditya Kothari says that the formation of new districts speeds up administrative work. The way Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has talked about the formation of new districts, it will be a very good initiative. At the same time, Transport Minister Chandra Ramdas says that the government should also think about its financial situation. If the financial condition is better then new districts can be formed. Because the formation of new districts requires huge amount of money. In such a situation, the economic condition of the state will also have to be kept in mind.
