Rajasthan / Bhilwara : The bride failed in the virginity test, the panchayat sat down after 8 days of marriage and imposed a fine of 10 lakhs

A shocking and embarrassing case has come to light in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan. Here a girl did not pass the virginity test after marriage, then her in-laws threw her out of the house. So the accused in-laws also called a panchayat in the village. While pronouncing the Tughlaqi decree, the panchayat imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on the girl and her family. When the family members of the girl belonging to a normal family could not pay the money, the accused started harassing them. The girl could not pass the virginity test because she was raped before marriage. Here, the family members of the girl have now registered a case against the accused in-laws in the police station.
According to media reports, the matter is of Bagor police station area of the city. On May 11, 2022, a 24-year-old girl living in the area was married in Bagor. Under the kukdi system, the girl was tested for virginity after marriage, but she could not pass the test. When her husband and in-laws asked the reason for not passing the test, the girl told that a young man living in her neighborhood had raped her before marriage. On knowing this, the in-laws got furious. Husband and mother-in-law beat up the girl fiercely.
Eight days after the wedding, on May 18, the girl’s in-laws called the society’s panchayat at Bhadu Mata temple. In which the family members of the girl were also called. When there was talk of the girl failing the virginity test in the panchayat, her family members told that she was raped before marriage. During that time its report was also lodged in Subhash Nagar police station. That panchayat did not give any decision, but on 31 May the panchayat was called once again. In which the Panch-Patels recited the Tughlaqi decree. The panchayat imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on the girl and her family and said that the rituals would be carried out with this amount.
The girl’s in-laws were harassing her for five months for not paying the fine. Eventually, fed up with their harassment, the girl and her family filed a case at the Bagor police station. In the FIR lodged by the victim on Saturday night, the police have registered a case against the husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law. Police say that in the initial investigation, the matter has been found to be true. The case is being investigated.
Surprisingly, a daughter of the accused in-laws’ side has committed suicide due to this cooking practice. About a year ago, Kukdi had failed the virginity test conducted under the practice. Tired of the torture, he gave his life. At that time the accused family was opposing this practice.
