Uttarakhand / Nainital : Boulder fell in Gulab Ghati, jammed on Nainital and Bhimtal road

The boulder fell at around 6:30 pm, the road opened at 9:30 pm
There was jam on Nainital and Bhimtal road for hours on Sunday evening. A big boulder came in the evening near Gulab Ghati on Nainital road, due to which the traffic was disrupted on both sides. Even during the day, there was a lot of pressure of vehicles due to idol immersion in the Gaula river and due to the increase in the number of tourists. After the removal of the boulder, the traffic was restored.
People were very upset due to the jam on the Nainital road. Being a Sunday, the number of tourists coming and going to Nainital increased. Due to this, there was more pressure of vehicles on Nainital Road since morning. Police had already sent vehicles coming from Nainital to Haldwani via Bhimtal to reduce the number of vehicles on Nainital road. However, there was also a large number of vehicles here. The people trapped in the jam remained troubled for about four hours.
Kathgodam was also crowded due to the procession being the day of immersion of the idol of Lord Ganapati. Due to this, in the evening, there was a situation of jam on both the roads leading to Nainital and Bhimtal. The situation became worse when a big boulder fell on the road near Gulab Ghati in Ranibagh at around 6 pm.
Fortunately, there was no loss of life due to the fall of the boulder, but the traffic on the road came to a complete standstill. There was a long traffic jam on both the sides of Nainital and Bhimtal road. While there was a jam situation on Nainital road from Jeolikot itself, there was a jam on Bhimtal road from Saldi Ranibagh bridge to Saldi.
Here Kathgodam police got the boulder removed by getting JCB. The boulder was removed at around 9.30 pm. After that the traffic was smooth. At the same time, there was a traffic jam on Rampur Road during the day.
The people trapped in the jam left on foot
Some people had to come on foot due to the jam on Nainital Road. Eyewitnesses said that due to the long traffic jam, many people had left for Haldwani on foot. Lalit Mohan Singh Bisht, former sarpanch of Ranibagh, said that the situation in Ranibagh was very bad due to the jam. Anand Kunjarwal told that many people were also seen coming on foot.
A big boulder had come on the Nainital road on Sunday evening in Gulab Ghati. Because of this there was a traffic jam. The boulder was removed by the police and administration around nine o’clock in the night. After that the traffic returned to normal.
