Kinnaur administration banned the trekking of Uttarkashi-Kinnaur route, decision was taken in view of the accidents
Trekking will no longer be possible on the tracks connecting Uttarkashi and Kinnaur (Himachal). The Kinnaur administration has banned trekking on these tracks. This decision has been taken in view of the number of deaths on these tracks. Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner has also sent a letter to District Magistrate Uttarkashi in this regard.
It has also been written in the letter that strict legal action will be taken for violating the ban. At the same time, the Uttarkashi district administration says that if the Kinnaur administration gives permission, then the trekkers will be allowed to go. A few days ago, a team of three trekkers and six porters had left for Chitkul via Khimloga Glacier from Liwari village of the district. A trekker was killed while four people were trapped in the pass in the accident that took place during rope rappelling in the Khimloga glacier area.
They were saved safely by ITBP and Kinnaur administration. Earlier, there have been accidents during trekking in the passes connecting Uttarkashi and Kinnaur, in view of which Deputy Commissioner of Kinnaur Abid Hussain has banned the treks connecting Uttarkashi and Kinnaur (Himachal) with immediate effect.
Kinnaur administration letter sent to forest department
The said letter has also been sent to the district administration Uttarkashi. It is clearly written in the letter that this decision has been taken in view of the deaths on the tracks. At the same time, District Disaster Management Officer Devendra Patwal said that the letter of Kinnaur administration has been sent to the Forest Department. There is no restriction on any trek by the district administration Uttarkashi. If the Kinnaur administration gives permission to come to its area, then the trekkers will not be stopped from here.
20 thousand people will be affected by the decision of Kinnaur administration
This decision of the Kinnaur administration will have a wrong effect on the businessmen associated with the trekking sector. A large number of people are associated with this business in Uttarkashi district. The livelihood of all of them will be affected due to the closure of trekking. President of Garhwal Himalaya Trekking and Mountaineering Association Jayendra Rana said that about 20 thousand people in Uttarkashi district get direct benefit from trekking. On one hand the Uttarakhand government is talking about promoting tourism, while on the other hand adventure tourism is being banned. It will be opposed.
