19 people died during Ganesh immersion in Maharashtra, supporters of Shinde-Uddhav faction clashed

At least 19 people have died in various incidents during the immersion of Ganesh idols in different parts of Maharashtra, out of which 14 have died due to drowning. The police gave this information on Saturday. Significantly, the 10-day Ganesh Utsav, which began on August 31, concluded on Friday. Three people drowned in Sawangi in Wardha district of the state, while another drowned in Deoli, a police official said. He said that two persons who had gone for idol immersion in Yavatmal district drowned in the pond.

Two persons died due to drowning in separate incidents at Supa and Belwandi in Ahmednagar district of the state, while two others died in Jalgaon district of the state, the official said. He said that one person each died in the rural areas of Pune, Dhule, Satara and Solapur cities. He said that during the immersion of Ganesh idol, four people died in a road accident in Shakkardara area of ​​Nagpur city.

A 55-year-old man was killed in the incident when a tree fell on a Ganesh pandal in Thane’s Kolbad area amid rain, a civic body official said. He said that the incident happened on Friday night. Meanwhile, 11 people, including a nine-year-old girl, were injured in an electric shock in Raigad’s Panvel, another official said.

6 people died due to drowning during Ganpati immersion in Haryana

At the same time, six people drowned during Ganpati immersion in Mahendragarh and Sonipat districts of Haryana on Friday evening. Officials said that during immersion in the canal in Mahendragarh, four youths died in the canal, while in Sonipat two youths drowned in the Yamuna river. Regarding the incident in Mahendragarh, Civil Surgeon Dr Ashok Kumar told reporters that four people have died due to drowning. During the immersion of the seven feet high Ganpati idol, nine youths were washed away in the canal’s torrent. The district administration with the help of NDRF rescued everyone, out of which four people died, while the other five were hospitalized.
