In the frontier district of Pithoragarh, there has been heavy destruction in Dharchula due to cloudburst in Darchula (Nepal) on the Indo-Nepal border on Friday night. On Sunday morning, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial inspection of the Dharchula disaster-affected area from a helicopter. Due to cloudburst, huge amount of debris in Kali river connecting Pithoragarh to Nepal has caused huge damage in Dharchula’s Khotila in Pithoragarh. Debris, which came with rain water from the hill, entered many houses, the road to the market was also covered with debris. Vehicles parked on the road were also buried under the debris. 2 people died in this accident, while 11 people are said to be missing. Relief and rescue work is going on even after 36 hours.

Let us inform that due to cloudburst in Nepal, there has been heavy damage in Dharchula, the border tehsil of India. After the cloudburst, there has been heavy destruction in Dharchula tehsil as well. Debris has entered many houses and vehicles got buried under the rubble. Along with this, the Kali river, which divides India and Nepal due to heavy rains, is also in spate. On Sunday, CM Dhami conducted an aerial inspection of the Dharchula disaster-affected area. During this Dharchula MLA Harish Dhami, Didihat MLA Bishan Singh Chufal, Almora-Pithoragarh MP Ajay Tamta and Pithoragarh DM Ashish Chauhan were present. He gave details of the damage in the area to CM Dhami.

It is worth noting that due to the cloudburst, debris has accumulated on the roads in Malli Bazar, Gwal village and Khotila. At the same time, due to cloudburst, many houses have been reported to have collapsed and many people are missing in Nepal. After the incident, SDRF, while conducting relief and rescue operations, recovered the body of 65-year-old Pashupati Devi and handed it over to the local police. While the search is on for the other missing people.

It has been learned that more than 50 houses of Vyasnagar have been submerged due to the formation of a lake about two km long in the Kali river near Khotila Vyasnagar. At the same time, there has been destruction due to heavy rains in Lasku, Nepal across the bridge. Disaster Management, Revenue Team, SDRF and Police Team are engaged in relief and rescue work. Helicopter help is also being taken to take the affected to safer places.
