Karnataka : Runs for 45 minutes to perform surgery on the patient, the doctor ran 3 kilometers leaving the car stuck in traffic

Bangalore doctor Govind Nandakumar has done something similar. Actually the car of the doctor going for surgery was stuck in the heavy traffic. On August 30, Gastroenterology Surgeon of Manipal Hospital, Dr. Govind Nandakumar got stuck in a car in the middle of traffic on the Sarjapur-Marathahalli section. During this time he was going to have a pre-scheduled gallbladder surgery. After this the doctor, without caring, ran on foot in the middle of the traffic.

Doctor Govind Nandakumar left the car and started running keeping in mind that his first patient was already ready for surgery. Along with this there were some other patients who were waiting for him after the surgery. Nandakumar got out of his car amidst the beach traffic and started running on foot to reach the hospital, about 3 km away.

Reiterating the Bangalore traffic problem, Nandakumar told our colleague TOI that “I had to reach Manipal Hospital in Sarjapur from Cunningham Road. Due to heavy rains and waterlogging, there was a complete halt of traffic a few kilometers ahead of the hospital. Traffic smooth. Seeing no sign of being there, I got out of my car and ran for about 45 minutes till I reached the hospital to see my patient.I didn’t want to waste any more time waiting for traffic to end, he said. My patients are not allowed to have food till the surgery is over. I didn’t want to make them wait for long.”
