In Maharashtra, the sadhus of UP were beaten up as child thieves, the Sant Samaj expressed their displeasure.

A case of beating of 4 sadhus of Mathura has come to light in Sangli district of Maharashtra. The sadhus in the Bolero car had asked the local people the way and people considered them to be child lifters. This rumor quickly spread in the area and a huge crowd gathered at the spot thrashed him badly. The video of this incident is going viral on social media. Police say that no complaint has been lodged by the sadhus in this matter. But action can be taken by checking the viral videos on social media. Four sadhus from UP had reached Lavanga village in Sangli district and had to go to Pandharpur.

He had stopped for the night at a temple on Monday. On Tuesday, when he went on the onward journey, he had asked a boy the way. During this, some local people suspected that these people belonged to the child thief gang. On this the crowd gathered and some people thrashed the sadhus. When the police reached the spot and investigated, it was found that he was not a child thief but a monk of the Panchadashanam Juna Akhara of Mathura. Sangli SP Dixit Gedam said that a case of thrashing of 4 sadhus by villagers in Sangli has come to the fore. Locals suspected that he was a member of a child-lifting gang.

Police rescued the sadhus

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took them into custody and interrogated them. After interrogating them, the police told that these four people have no connection with the child-lifter gang. These people were going for darshan worship, but due to misunderstanding, people mistook them as child thieves and caught and beat them up. Police has arrested 6 people in this case. Taking suo moto, the police had registered a case under sections 323 and 324 of the IPC. Police have made 5 people named accused, while a case has also been registered against 15 unknown people. However, the police have not been able to contact the sadhus again so far.

Sadhus gave a warning

The Sant Samaj has expressed its displeasure over the assault on four sadhus on suspicion of child theft in Maharashtra’s Sangli today. Mahant Sanjay Das, the successor of Hanuman Garhi of Ayodhya, has said that in today’s era some Kalnemi have come in the guise of a saint, but if the limits of mistreatment of innocent saints are crossed, then the saint society will not sit silent. We will now surround the Parliament and register our protest over such incidents. Swami Dipankar said that we will not allow this matter to become Palghar. Strict action should be taken against the culprits. Mahant Sanjay Das, the successor of Hanuman Garhi of Ayodhya, condemned the incident, saying, “It is true that in today’s era some Kalnemi have come in the guise of a saint, but if a person is in the guise of a saint, then without identifying his real identity. It is absolutely not fair to attack them. If they had any doubt, the accused should have taken the help of the police for that.” He said, “There are lakhs and crores of temples in our country, small and big, to which the sadhu society often stays on pilgrimage. If there are attacks on such sadhu society and they are not stopped, then the sadhu society will not sit silent and will gherao the Parliament to express its protest.
