India’s ‘Chenab Bridge’ is the world’s highest rail bridge

Chenab Bridge is an important part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project and is the highest rail bridge in the world. This is a concrete arch bridge built between Bakkal and Kauri. This bridge has been built in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. With the installation of the Golden Joint on August 14, 2022, the work of the overarch deck of this bridge was completed.
Made at a cost of 28000 crores
The work of Chenab Bridge was completed in several phases. The work on the 118 km Qazigund-Baramulla section was commissioned in October 2009. In June 2013, the 18 km Banihal-Qazigund work was commissioned. In July 2014, the work of 25 km Udhampur-Katra was commissioned. This bridge is being built at a cost of 28,000 crores.

Chenab Bridge is a 1,315 meter long bridge. This is the highest railway bridge in the world. This bridge is a single arch railway bridge whose length is 1.3 km. It is built at a height of 359 meters above the river level. This bridge being built by the Indian Railways is 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This bridge will also be able to withstand an earthquake of 8 magnitude on the Richter scale. This bridge will also be able to withstand winds blowing at a speed of 266 km/hr.
