Government’s big update on ration card holders, 2.4 crore cards canceled

If you are a ration card holder then this news is for you. Taking major action against the ration card holders, the government has canceled about 2.5 crore ration cards in the last few days. Information about this was given by the government. In the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Rural Development and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti gave this big information in response to a question by BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi in the Rajya Sabha.

21.03 lakh ration cards canceled in Maharashtra
In the information given by the Union Minister of State, it was told that duplicate, ineligible and fake 2 crore 41 lakh ration cards have been canceled in the country during the five years from 2017 to 2021. He also informed that 7.10 lakh ration cards have been canceled in Bihar alone. During this, maximum 1.42 crore ration cards have been canceled in UP. Apart from this, 21.03 lakh ration cards were canceled in the state of Maharashtra.

This time again a big step has been taken by the government. Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 70 lakh card holders who have availed the benefit of ration have been included in the list of suspects. This data has been sent by the Center to the states for ground verification. In the verification, it will be found out whether those whose names have been included in the list are eligible to get ration under NFSA or not.

Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey told that if even half of the 70 lakhs are not found correct according to the rules, then new characters will be given a chance by canceling their place. After the cancellation of the ration card, the names of new characters are added in their place.
