The color of the sun is white not yellow! NASA’s Astronaut Revealed the Secret of the True Color of the Sun

There are many such mysteries related to space, there are many mysteries which man has not been able to solve till now. Standing on the surface of the earth, we keep looking at the distant sky and make up our theories. We humans do not know about everything present in space. Even we do not know much about the center of our solar system, the Sun.

One of the many questions related to the Sun is, after all, what is the color of the Sun? Is it yellow? Is it red-yellow? Because this is how the sun looks from the earth. The former astronaut of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has solved this mystery.

NASA Astronaut Responds

NASA astronaut, Scott Kelly told that even though the Sun looks yellow from Earth, in reality its color is white. On September 12, this fact was tweeted from the Twitter handle named @Latest in Space that the color of the sun is white but it looks yellow from the surface of the earth. Tweeting on this, Kelly wrote that he confirms this space fact. Scott Kelly spent 520 days 10 hours and 33 minutes in space.

Why does the sun appear yellow?

When astronauts leave the surface of the earth and reach space, they see the sun white. Now the question is, why do we see the sun yellow from the earth? The reason for this is our eyes. We do not see any one color of the sun because the photoreceptor cells of our eyes saturate the sunlight. Because of this all the colors mix together. When all the colors are mixed, white is formed.

Due to the atmosphere of the earth, we see the color of the sun as yellow. According to Science Focus, blue light has a shorter wavelength and scatters better than red light. As sunlight enters the Earth’s atmosphere, the Sun’s blue light is scattered. This is the reason for seeing more red light at sunrise and sunset.

Last year, NASA shared the closest picture ever taken of the sun.
