The Valley of Flowers will remain closed for tourists for the next three days, a decision taken in view of the rains

In view of the heavy rain warning issued by the Meteorological Department, the movement in the Valley of Flowers has been stopped for three days. At the same time, Rudranath Yatra has also been stopped for two days. Both tourist and religious places are located in the high Himalayan region. The DFO issued this order on Thursday morning.

On Thursday, around 50 tourists had gone to the Valley of Flowers to collect tickets but were sent back. Gaurav Negi, Forest Officer, Valley of Flowers said that the valley has been closed for tourists for three days (Thursday to Saturday).

On the other hand, Rudranath Yatra has also been banned for Friday and Saturday. Inder Singh Negi, Conservator of Forests of Kedarnath Wildlife Division said that this decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in view of the warning of the Meteorological Department. Traffic will remain closed at both the places till Saturday. After that further decision will be taken considering the weather conditions.

Record tourists arrived this year

Tourists are flocking to see the world famous Valley of Flowers. So far, a record 19852 tourists have reached the Valley of Flowers, whereas in 2019 till this time, the highest number of tourists reached the valley was 17,424. The Valley of Flowers will close on October 31. This time in the Valley of Flowers, tourists remained active throughout the season. The valley was opened for tourists on June 1.

More than 500 species of flowers

More than five hundred species of flowers bloom in the valley at different times. Many flowers remain in bloom from the first week of July to the third week of October. Many flowers like Pototilla, Primula, Anemone, Erissima, Ammonite, Blue Poppy, Mars Mary Gold, Brahma Kamal, Fan Kamal are in bloom here. The valley is a storehouse of rare species of fauna, flora and herbs. The world of butterflies also lives here, having different types of flowers. Musk deer, Monal, Himalayan black bear, Guldar, Snow leopard are also seen in this valley.

Where is the valley of flowers

Located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, the World Heritage Valley of Flowers comes under Nanda Devi National Park. Due to its natural beauty and biological diversity, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2005. Spread over 87.5 sq km, the Valley of Flowers attracts not only India but also foreign tourists.
